Personal growth is something we spend our entire lives trying to continuously achieve. Whether it be in our workplace, our family life, our faith or our physical being, we are always trying to grow into a better version of ourselves. Achieving true personal growth requires a lot of a person, but the requirements are worth it in the end. One of the key requirements is reality checks with oneself. There are three aspects of a 'reality check' one can give themselves to ensure that they are on the right track to personal growth. The first is evaluation of surroundings. This is the evaluation of simple things such as your living space, your office, even your car. How can one grow when their surroundings are a mess? A clear space brings about a clear mind. This can also be the evaluation of major things like peers, people you spend the most time with. Are your friends really your friends? Are the people you surround yourself with lifting you up and holding you back from happiness? Sometimes, people are meant for seasons, and you just have to start letting go of those friendships and focusing on what is best for you. The second aspect is an evaluation of you. Ask yourself questions such as are you taking care of yourself? Are you feeding your body things it needs? Are you moving your body and getting enough physical activity? Are you resting? Are you devoting your time to things that matter, that will propel you further down the path you want to be on? Asking these kinds of questions and really focusing on the true answers will allow for a proper understanding of where you are strong and where you are lacking. The third is an evaluation of what the future you wants and needs. What are you growth goals? What is it that you really want to achieve for yourself, and when do you want to have these goals achieved by? Nothing worth having is easy to come by, so although this may take work, it's worth it if it's for you.
